Indigenous Leadership
programs designed to inspire
Australia needs Indigenous leadership programs that build real world skills for our Indigenous youth. At Indigicate we work closely with many Indigenous organisations to design and facilitate leadership camps.
Our camps focus on building support networks through outdoor experiences like camping and canoeing. The programs directly target Indigenous youth who are in the care of the state, providing them with opportunities to connect with culture and role models.

Our Philosophies
Indigicate’s philosophy is to provide a range of outdoor programs that provide young people with positive experiences. We want Indigenous young people to have successful happy lives and we design programs that provide them with the skills to do this.

What do we do?
Camps, outdoor experiences and International leadership trips for Indigenous young people aged between 11 and 17 years old. The trips are split into girls and boys camps.
We have a team of fully qualified outdoor education instructors who are experienced designers and facilitators. Camps are designed to challenge young people through multi-day journeys

Indigenous leadership camps
Our leadership camps focus on communication, support, challenge and culture. We take groups of up to 15 Indigenous youth on multi day outdoor camps. The camps are tailored to suit the group and the experiences range from 5 day canoe trips through to 12 day hikes.

Cultural support camps
Indigicate prides itself on working closely with Indigenous organisations. Over the last five years we have partnered with Indigenous organisations to provide leadership support, equipment and program management expertise. Let us take care of the camp logistics and assist you with your cultural program.

Our Capacity
We cap the maximum participants per a group at 12 for Indigenous programs. Each group has 4 qualified outdoor staff

Our proven track record
Indigenous pedagogy has a deep two way learning component. Two way learning for us means that we need to understand the schools culture and the year levels needs. We work closely with the school to foster a relationship that enables us to tailor camps that suit your values and learning outcomes. When we work closely with schools the students learning is enhanced and the outcomes are stronger.

Connection based education
Indigicate is serious about safety. Our team are well trained in wilderness first aid, mental health first aid and deescalation techniques. Every group leader carries an emergency kit, first aid kit, satellite phone and severe weather kit. All of our programs have a support person who stays in a central location and keeps regular contact with the leaders. Our risk assessments are extensive and we have extensive experience at all the venues we use

Cultural support camps
Connection based education is the foundations of our Indigenous pedagogy. We want young people to connect. Connect with themselves, nature and community. Indigenous Australians are renowned for their connection to country and community. Our connection practices teach students to stop focusing on individual needs and open up to listening to the world around them. Our connection practices are the best parts of our programs.
